Astris Energi Model E8 Portable Generator Returns From Successful European Demonstrations
MISSISSAUGA, ONTARIO, CANADA, July 14, 2004 -- Astris Energi Inc. (OTC Bulletin Board - ASRNF), the world's leading alkaline fuel cell (AFC) technology company, today reported that the 2.4 kW Model E8 Portable AFC power generator that had been on display in Europe returned to Canada following a series of successful demonstrations. Highlights of the tour included:
On May 6, 2004 the E8 was successfully demonstrated and defended in front of a panel of five experts including representatives of the Czech Ministry of Industry and Trade, Technical University Brno and University Pardubice. This panel concluded that the performance and budget goals for the E8 project were fully met. This review was a requirement for the funding provided by the Czech Ministry of Industry and Trade and signified the conclusion of the E8 development project.
Earlier in the year in the Czech Republic, the E8 was the star attraction among leading edge technologies at the 11th annual international INFOTHERMA exhibition - the largest event of its kind in Eastern Europe. The INFOTHERMA exhibition and conference was officially sanctioned by the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Czech Republic, Ministry of Environment, Czech Energy Agency, The State Fund for Environment of Czech Republic, Ministry of Agriculture and Ministry of Regional Expansion of Czech Republic.
This E8 is currently undergoing further testing and evaluation at the Astris Laboratories following its return to Canada and will be used alongside other E6, E7 and E8 generators for a variety of demonstrations and trade shows. The model E8 generator provides 48 V DC power at 50 amperes of current, and will handle overload up to 60 amps. Electrical efficiency of the entire generator is above 50%, a figure unequalled by any other device in its class, and several times higher than the efficiency of conventional generators fuelled by gasoline.
