Photo Release -- Guided Missile Destroyer Kidd Begins Extensive Sea Trials

PASCAGOULA, Miss., Nov. 14, 2006 (PRIMEZONE) -- Caption: Northrop Grumman Ship Systems' 24th Aegis guided missile destroyer Kidd (DDG 100) sailed through the Gulf of Mexico Monday as she began her extensive sea trials. DDG 100 makes a triumphant underway voyage after suffering damage to her hull on August 29, 2005 during Hurricane Katrina. DDG 100 is undergoing her builder's and U.S. Navy acceptance sea trials all during one "super trial" period. All systems will be tested and evaluated during the three-day trip. The ship is scheduled to be delivered before the end of the year and she will be commissioned next spring. This is the second ship put to sea for trials in 20 days by Northrop Grumman.
