Photo Release -- U.S. Navy Awards Northrop Grumman Contract for DDG 51 Follow-Yard Services

PASCAGOULA, Miss., May 23, 2007 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- The U.S. Navy today awarded Northrop Grumman Corporation (NYSE:NOC) a contract for follow-yard services for the USS Arleigh Burke class (DDG 51) Aegis destroyer program. The contract is for technical and engineering support services including Aegis destroyer design upgrades, planning and technical support, and crew indoctrination and orientation. It will also support training initiatives to ensure the pre-commissioning crew can operate and maintain new systems and equipment once the destroyers are put into service.

The $20.7 million cost-plus-award-fee contract consists of a base year and four option years with a total potential contract value of $75 million if all options are exercised.

"This reinforces the Navy's commitment to Northrop Grumman's expertise and technical support on the follow-yard services contract," said George Nungesser, program manager of Aegis destroyers for Northrop Grumman's Ship Systems sector. "This contract allows Northrop Grumman to continue supporting our Navy customers while introducing design changes aboard each ship."

Northrop Grumman has delivered 24 destroyers to the Navy, with four ships remaining in construction. The Pascagoula facility will christen Truxtun (DDG 103) on June 2. Kidd (DDG 100) will be commissioned in Galveston, Texas on June 9.
