Northrop Grumman Wins Order to Supply Navigation Systems for New Icelandic Coast Guard Patrol Vessel

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. -- Dec. 10, 2007 -- Northrop Grumman Corporation (NYSE:NOC) has won a contract to supply a state-of-the-art integrated bridge system (IBS) for a new offshore patrol vessel (OPV) being built in Chile for delivery to the Icelandic Coast Guard.

The contract was awarded to Northrop Grumman's Sperry Marine business unit by ASMAR Shipyard in Talcahuano, which is building the 93-meter ship for the Icelandic Coast Guard. The IBS installation will be based on Sperry Marine's next-generation VisionMaster FT navigation technology.

"Sperry Marine's engineering team designed an IBS tailored specifically for the unique space constraints and operational requirements of modern offshore patrol vessels," said Victor Cruz, senior marketing business manager, international defense for Latin America at Sperry Marine. "We are currently supplying similar VisionMaster FT IBS packages for two smaller 80-meter OPVs under construction at the same shipyard for the Chilean Navy."

The multipurpose OPV is intended to provide a versatile platform for offshore patrol, fishery control and inspection, general law enforcement operations and search and rescue support. The construction of the ship was approved by the Iceland government in 2006 to replace an aging 64-meter patrol vessel, which has been in service since 1960. The new ship will be commissioned in 2009.
