Northrop Grumman to Showcase Cybersecurity and C4ISR Innovations at the U.S. Army's LandWarNet Conference
TAMPA, Fla., Aug. 23, 2011 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Northrop Grumman Corporation (NYSE:NOC) is displaying a wide array of capabilities and demonstrations that support America's warfighters and cyber warriors at the U.S. Army's LandWarNet Conference, being held today through Thursday at the Tampa Convention Center. The theme for the conference, sponsored by AFCEA International, is "Transforming Cyber While at War."
At booth 821, Northrop Grumman is featuring programs and systems that demonstrate innovative solutions ranging from cybersecurity to C4ISR, which include the Battlefield Airborne Communications Node (BACN); the Army Knowledge Online/Defense Knowledge Online (AKO/DKO) system; and several innovations from its Cybersecurity Innovations Center.
"The cyber threat continues to evolve and threaten the security of our nation's basic enterprise systems, as well as those platforms and subsystems on which the Army trains and fights. Industry needs to leverage emerging technologies to ensure we provide an agile response to those threats that would preclude our soldiers from fighting upon arrival," said Dr. Michael Papay, Northrop Grumman Information Systems sector vice president for cybersecurity, who participated in an industry panel.
Northrop Grumman is showcasing several technologies from the Cybersecurity Innovations Center, including: Dynamic Adaptive Defense; Continual Compliance Management; and Trusted Cloud Computing solutions.
The world's largest intranet portal,AKO/DKO provides a single enterprise service portal that serves as the entry point for all U.S. Department of Defense and authorized users to access Defense Department and government intranets. The only enterprise collaboration tool operating throughout the U.S. Army worldwide, AKO/DKO supports operations, missions and critical processes for forces worldwide.
As part of Northrop Grumman's continuing investment in this key program, AKO users are invited to meet with user experience developers to preview the new homepage designs and vote for their favorite. The company will also be demonstrating the new "Secure Go Mobile" tool for wireless devices including the iPhone and iPad.
BACN is a high-altitude, airborne communications gateway system flying on five separate aircraft to maintain operational support 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The persistent connectivity BACN provides improved situational awareness and enables better coordination between forward-edge warfighters and commanders. Air Force acquisition executives have highlighted BACN as a success story, saying the system allowed the warfighter to receive the needed capability in a short period of time.
At LandWarNet, Northrop Grumman will highlight how BACN can provide communications gateway functionality, voice and data translation and extend Global Information Grid access to the foxhole.
