Occidental Petroleum Announces Government Relations Management Changes

LOS ANGELES, Oct. 11, 2007 -- Occidental Petroleum Corporation (NYSE:OXY) announced today that Robert M. McGee, Vice President, Government Relations, has chosen to retire following 34 years of service.

Commenting on McGee's retirement after a 37-year career in government and public relations, Oxy's Chairman, President and CEO, Dr. Ray R. Irani said, "Oxy has been fortunate to have an executive on our management team with Bob's depth of expertise in government relations. His contributions to our success over the years are greatly appreciated."

Dr. Irani also announced that Ian M. Davis has been promoted to Vice President, Government Relations. Davis has been with Oxy since 1999, managing the company's international government relations. Immediately prior to joining Oxy, he was with Fluor Corporation as Director of International Government Relations. Previously, Davis was with the U.S. Department of Commerce for nine years, serving in increasingly responsible roles both in the U.S. and overseas, including as Director, Office of Asia Pacific Economic Corporation. He was awarded the Department of Commerce Bronze Medal, the highest award issued by the Under Secretary of Commerce, for activities in support of U.S. international trade. Davis graduated with honors from Georgetown University's School of Foreign Service and began his career as a Fellowship Recipient with Credit Agricole in Paris, France. He resides in the Washington, D.C. area.
