Stevens Named Vice President of Occidental

LOS ANGELES, Oct. 14, 2004 -- Occidental Petroleum Corporation (NYSE:OXY) announced today that its board of directors has elected Todd Stevens to the position of Vice President, Acquisitions and Corporate Finance.

Stevens joined Occidental in 1995, and has filled a series of progressively more responsible roles in the Corporate Development Department. Most recently, he served as Director, Mergers and Acquisitions, with responsibility for evaluating and developing strategic and business opportunities, including restructuring alternatives, mergers and acquisitions, and asset dispositions.

Stevens holds a Bachelor of Science degree from the United States Military Academy and a Master of Business Administration degree from the University of Southern California.
